Every year, Mark Twain Society produces readings, plays and lectures written, inspired or influenced by Mark Twain. The following examples recently debuted in Sarasota County.

Original Sin

This comedy by Alan Kitty was adapted from Mark Twain’s “Diaries of Adam and Eve.”  Twain claimed credit for translating ancient manuscripts reportedly signed by Earth’s first modern humans. Witness the moment of the first human thoughts. Reminisce over the first words spoken and understood; empathize and grieve if you must with the last. And laugh at the human condition.

They Told Me to be Brief

This solo work is the latest iteration of plays that have been presented to audiences across America. Previous performances featured a QnA-fueled improvisation that has been an audience favorite for years. They Told Me to be Brief is entirely improvised – commingling fiction with autobiography.  As always, audience questions guide the last quarter of the show.
